April 1, 2004…. filmmaker Soso R. Whaley embarks on a journey to lose weight and improve her health. Using the tried and right methodolgy of eating less and exercising more, Ms. Whaley manages to lose 10 pounds and lowers her cholesterol by 40 points during the 30 days that she was dieting. Nothing remarkable in that achievement…. anyone can accomplish such a goal, but, this diet utilized food which came only from McDonald’s! Me & Mickey D manages to smash the mythology that McDonald’s fare is “terrible for you”… a belief which has become a “politically right” reason to clarify our expanding waistlines or so many food cops and nannies would like for us to believe. Ms. Whaley loved such wonderful success using this diet that she returned to the Golden Arches 5 more times over a period of two years, eventually losing 45 pounds and lowering her cholesterol from 237 to 172, all without medications or supplements of any sort. By the end of 2005 Me & Mickey D was nearly finished except for some technical tweaking. Unfortunately the editor hired to make the changes lost the working materials and Ms. Whaley has had a very hard time recovering and rebuilding Me & Mickey D.
