Why did I lose 10 pounds in a week?

I weigh 210 pounds currently and am 5′ 10″. I started dieting 1 week ago when I weighed 220 pounds (eating 1200 to 1500 calories a day) and workout 3 times a week (running on treadmill and weight training). I also drink plenty of water. Why did I lose 10 pounds in a week? And will my weight loss stay at a constant state (losing 10 pounds a week) or slow down? If it will slow down how many pounds can I expect to lose a week? THANK YOU VERY MUCH

It won’t stay the same if you lost it all in a week. Keep your eating habits and exercise regime, because right now you’re body is telling you you need to eat fatty foods, and if you listen to it, it will place all that stout back on. Keep loosing weight. I would guess you’d want to loose a bit more than you had plotted, so you can gain some back and stabilize your weight.

It’s normal to lose more weight at the beginning. Most of the weight you lose in the first week is water weight. It does slow down afterwards. Theoretically, you can determine how much weight you want to lose per week. I used this website to do my own chart. http://www.healthleader.uthouston.edu/calculators/wm-women.html

Example, A sedentary (no exercise at all) 30 yr-ancient woman who is 5′10″ and 210 lbs, you need to eat 2,166 per day to stay at 210 lbs. Therefore, if you eat only 1,200 calories per day (which means you are eating 966 calories less per day), it will take you 3.6 days to lose 1 pound (or 3,500 calories). Obviously, if you also burn additional calories through exercise, then you’ll lose the 1 pound in less than 3.6 days.
